Hygienists
Tammy
Tammy has been a dental hygienist since 2004, and before that was an outstanding dental assistant. She has loved caring for patients over the past 36 years, and they eventually become like family to her. She is extremely thorough and loves to educate her patients about their oral health. Tammy enjoys making sure that her dental patients are comfortable and they know right away that they are in good hands. Tammy is originally from the great state of Maine, but as a young adult chose to relocate to south west Florida where she and her husband of 25 years raised their family. When she is not delivering gentle care to her patients, Tammy most likes spending time with her family and enjoys anything outdoors that this mountain life has to offer.
Candice
Candice has been a dental hygienist since 2010 and in the dental field since 2003. She is passionate about how systemic health impacts oral health and how the body’s overall well-being is reflected in our smiles. As an Army brat, Candice moved often but has called WNC home for the past 10 years. When she is not working, you’ll probably find her out on the trails with her dog, Arlo, trying new foods, or spending time with family. She looks forward to learning, growing, and connecting with this amazing community. You may even get lucky to catch one of her Ted Talks.
Taylor
Taylor is a proud Canton native and a graduate of Pisgah High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from East Tennessee State University and is passionate about providing quality care and building relationships with her patients. Taylor has been practicing hygiene since 2020
Taylor is married to her high school sweetheart, Caleb, and together they recently welcomed their sweet and precious baby boy, Reed. They share their home with three beloved dogs—Mowgli, a Yorkie, and two playful Golden Doodles, Roo and Nash.
Outside of work, Taylor enjoys spending time with family, being out on the lake, boating, and camping.
She and her growing family are active members of their church. She also loves attending sporting events and cheering on the Tennessee Vols—Go Vols!
Taylor is proud to be part of the team and looks forward to providing compassionate, high-quality care while getting to know her patients.
Amy
Amy grew up in Clyde, NC, where she now lives with her husband Jonathan, their son Jaden, and their dog, Bruiser. She has been a dental hygienist since 2017. Working in dentistry has been a dream of Amy’s since childhood. She has a passion for not only caring for her patient’s dental health, but for building meaningful relationships with them as well. In her free time, her favorite place to be is on the lake with her family. She is a huge fan of Tar Heels basketball and is known to never miss a good yard sale! Amy is proud to be a part of the amazing team at Balsam Dental and is very excited to develop long-term relationships with her patients.
Assistants
Britnany
Britnany has been a dental assistant since 2007. She is very passionate about her job and is truly a team player helping wherever she is needed. Britnany is from Candler but has lived in Canton for 20 years now. She is married and has 2 sons who keep her on the go with sporting and outdoor-events. She enjoys reading, drinking good coffee and spending time with her family. During the warmer months you will find her on the water with her family enjoying lake life.
Monica
Monica has been a dental assistant since 2022. She enjoys getting to know her patients and creating an enjoyable relationship. She is from Mexico but has lived in WNC for 20 years now. She has 2 sons who are the light of her life. She has a dog, and her kids have a hamster. She loves doing nails and spending time with her kids. When its 90 degrees in the middle of summer and we are complaining about the heat, she will still be saying she is cold!
Jennifer
Jennifer has been a dental assistant since 2007. She loves patient interactions and providing the absolute best patient experience. She is from Northwest Florida, but she has lived in Clyde for 9 years now. She was in the Army for 9 years and has 4 children. She loves hanging out with her children, enjoys watching movies, good coffee and relaxing.
Front Desk coordinator
Kyla
Kyla has been in the healthcare field since 2011 and brings a wealth of experience in customer service, billing, account management, and insurance claims. She has a warm and cheerful smile when you come in the door, and takes pride in helping patients feel at ease in the dental office (no small task!). She is from Asheville, but has lived in Canton for the past 20 years. She has a daughter (her side-kick), 3 cats, and 2 dogs. Kyla loves being in the mountains where she enjoys hiking, fishing and hunting. She has a steady hand for hobbies such as cross-stitching and earrings. Her latest adventure is section hiking the mountains to sea trail.
Dental Insurance coordinator
Brook
Brook has been in the healthcare field since 2010 and brings to our team a wealth of experience in insurance, claims, and accounting. You will see Brook in the office performing multiple administration duties to get your insurance claims paid. She is from Candler, but has called Canton home for 6 years now. She is married and has a son who is also considered the office manager. You may see Hank and his dinosaurs when you come to the office. Brook enjoys being at home, caring for her animals, reading and spending time with her family. During the summer she enjoys soaking up the sunshine with her family at the lake.
